Open Roads: Animated Intro

At long last! After days of non-stop animation, the intro clip is finally complete! Take a look at it and share it with your buddies! I guess it's now time to move to the editing stage... ;)

Gullwing for a reason!

This is my imaginary Mercedes 300SL Gullwing coupe. Kind of a project; work on it as you drive it! It runs like a dream and it has substantial rust. Still worth half a million dollars to the right buyer! The doors have a special function... they flap!

You may also need a pilot's license to operate this thing...!

Taste of Open Roads

I have been animating for the last week, and all I can say is that, as excruciating as the animation process turns out to be, I really enjoy mixing automobiles and the illusion of life. It's all about the motion and the flow, the detail and reference that makes it unique.

Oldies, but goodies

There used to be a time, way before "Brown Meets RISD", in which I used collage as a way of making daily strips. Here are some of them...

Drawing on my Art History background... the Oath of the Horatii with a twist.

Celebrating the independence of Kosovo...

The merits of the word LOL.

On absolutism versus twentieth century totalitarianism.

The Spanish legend of spoiling foods in that special time of the month.

For all my Harry Potter fans out there... so many at RISD!

Dedicated to all those people out there who hate Kenny G.

House models

I am a big fan of streamline deco and art deco. This model was made from scratch, combining the ship-like elements of these styles with the practicality of a current home.

Streamline home. Paper only.

Poetry Compilation

It seems I have left my art aside –nonesense! I have compiled a bunch of my best writing up to date, from twisted sonnets to invented dictionary definitions. You can save it to your computer by right-clicking it and selecting "save as". All I have to say now is enjoy, folks!

Click here to see the compilation.

Such beautiful colors and lines! Anyone know what is the name of this painting?

Special thanks to MariƩad Byrne, Rick Benjamin and my classmates in both classes for making this semester an exceptional one. Cheers!

Two Cool Posters

There's no design like 1930's design! Today I found out about this amazing illustrator and graphic designer, Tom Whalen; he's got some lovely imitations of this kind of art deco design (check out his Adventure Time and the Four Horsemen posters, they're great!). Here's a couple of poster designs from some time ago...

When You Ride Alone You Ride With Bush. Acrylic on Masonite + Digital.

15th Cultural Week at the Oviedo University. Digital. Got me a $500 price!

The Life of Reagan

I was always fascinated by two things: Terry Gilliam's Animations (especially by the intro to the film "The Life of Brian"), and the wrinkles in Ronald Reagan's face. This is a small homage to these two guys.

As small note on the side, here's a real quote by Ronnie, back in good ol' 1982. It may be a comic strip, but it's the truth.

Two Friends from the Brown Daily Herald

Ladies and gentlemen, I present you with two of my favorite illustrations I made for the cover of the magazine The Brown Spectator. I envision a little bit of "New Yorker" going on in future publications!

The Triumphs of Cowboy Diplomacy. Gouache on Illustration Paper.

Hugo Chavez Crossing the Alps. Acrylic on Illustration Paper.

Woo-ah!

Today I found out about 300td.org, a German guy who decided to take his Mercedes 300TD station wagon across the world. He currently stands as my personal hero. In fact, I have recently gotten a 300TD for $1,000 and plan to travel across the USA this Summer. Should I sell it at the end of the Summer? Hm, we'll see.

Awesome 101

Unfortunately, the internship in Superjail got cancelled. However, I have had the chance to take a class on one of my favourite topics, Totalitarian Art (yes, I secretly yearn to be a Minister of Propaganda). The class is great, but not as awesome as the ones shown here...

Superjail!

Awesome! Yesterday I got a green light for my bosses to be an intern for the entire month of January in Augenblick Studios, creators of the [Adult Swim] show "SuperJail". How AWESOME is that?! Surprisingly, not many people at RISD like (or even know) it.

Here is a comic strip with JailBot...

I made a blog for you!

That's right! I can now be considered a public intellectual, if there is such a thing. I will be posting my favourite strips of "Opus Ominis" and "Brown Meets RISD" for my fans from Brown University... thank you guys for making this possible!
